Mornin' all.
Got a strange problem with the GTi. When maintaining a steady speed, say 40 mph, the car stutters/judders. When accelerating or decelerating the car is smooth as it should be.
Going to clean the thottle body once the car thaws this morning to see if this makes a difference.
Any ideas would be great.
Cheers guys and gals.

Would highly recommend changing both the ECU relay & Fuel Pump Relay first!! Will cost you about £30 for the both at a VW main dealer!!

Cheers CraigDavid.
A new development. As I was poking around under the bonnet this morning I noticed an oil leak from the top of the oil filter housing. It is leaking from a sensor on top with a single spade connector in a rubber boot. What is that sensor? It is covered in oil, including the connetors and the rubber boot.
EeeeK!

oil pressure sensor replace with a genuine one as the aftermarket ones are crap

Cheers guys,
I'll be at VW then first thing in the morning.

Okay.
Now I've fitted new Oil Pressure Sensor, ECU Relay and Fuel Pump Relay. Problem still persists. I took the car on a 5 mile run to see if the new components needed to "bed in". While I was out I noticed a "chattering" noise from underneath. When I got home and got out of the car there was a "hot" smell. I looked under the car and the area of the exhaust where the CAT is was smoking and so was the big part of the exhaust before the back box. What has happened?
I feel a big bill coming on....................................

Maybe the cat has collapsed causing the loads of resistance and the smoke etc. New cat?

maybe a timing issue, does your car rev past 5000 revs?
If it does then its the CAT I'm afraid. Best go to GSF or Eurocarparts for that!

Cheers,
I've got a VW Indy up the road. I'll take it in and get them to fit a new CAT and check it out.

Picked up the car today and it's had new coil, ignition leads, rotor arm and the throttle body and breather pipes cleaned. Plus the codes read, all for 150 quid and it's running sweet so I'm happy.
Thanks for all the advice.
