Hi All
I have MK3 and I am at my wits with its stalling problem.Initially it has been stalling when slowing down and on roundabouts.Went to the retailer and they replaced throttle body.It stopped stalling for some time but then it started again , this time randomly.I went to two different gatages but no one can find out why it is happening.
This is quite frustrating and seems like only thing I can do is get rid of it.This is not a space shuttle , just a car - is it so hard to find out what is wrong with it?Am I dealing with non professionals?Should I go to official VW garage?
So far it is pretty dangerous to drive it as it stalls whenever hell it wants..
If someone knows good garage in Sutton/Kingston/Croydon area that can _fix_ cars, please let me know
Thanks everyone!

This is a huge thread that the Mk3 guys often refer to: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=2080.280
Failing that, use the search function in the Mk3 section as I think this is quite a common problem (ECU and fuel pump relays etc.), I doubt its anything to do with your throttle body, but then I don't know much about Mk3's??
Also, remember to state your engine type (16v, 8v etc) when you post a question as it helps the wise dudes diagnose your problems!

checked all your vacuum hoses?

Similar prob for me....
Cleaning the Throttle body has helped about 50% but still cuts out....
I thinkit might have something to do with a dodgy induction kit someone has put on before I had it...
Any one have the top part of an air box?
if not where can i get one from?

my 16 v mark 3 is in the garage now as it keeps stalling. a throttle body sensor has been fitted and new wiring as the exhaust has burnt throught the wires and fried all of the wires together.
after all this re wireing and the sensor, car is much much better.

what sensor is this?
where from?
how much?
-
daugavpils, does your oil light flash too?
-
not sure what sensor, i will ask when i pick it up tomorrow.
he says its around 90 quid for the actual sensor and i have got my golf in at my local vw specilist in taunton
-
crankshaft sensor by any chance? Best to get vag com on it to check first, it could well just be the ECU relay that will cost you about 6 quid
