76500m on the 1.8t

old golf mk2 1.8gti had 315000km on oe engine :smiley:

130k on the VR and still going strong! 45k on the bora turbo - trying to keep it nice and low so the vr is taking the brunt of the miles at the mo  :grin:

My 95 mk3 8v has 128k this is the lowest mileage car ive owned lol, my last 94 VR6 had 144k whan i sold it and the Mrs 2001 Mk4 V5 has 95k.... :smiley:

I think the 8V gti will out run most other engines, god only knows how my 1.4L managed 204K miles! its only on s P plate!
It might take 3/4 gearboxes to get an 8V gti to 300K miles but im sure a few out there have done it! the engines are bullet proof!  :smiley:

my old 94 gti had 112000miles on and fell apart bit by bit!! (as the last owner didnt service and repaired it as cheaply as possible) and it shows if you care for your car it will last much much longer...
heres the faults that car developed... gearbox,clutch,front wishbones and anti roll bar bushes,rear wheel bearings,front brakes strated seizing,emmsions,exhaust snapped twice and finally the dreaded rust killed it...(the bulkhead and front jackning points were ****ed)

yep as boney said, look after it and mileage really isnt such a issue, as iv said in the past, my old bag o sh!te runner Ford escort mk 5 (which i actually loved and had been in the family since it was bought new from the dealer down the road!!) covered over 250k miles on the original engine and box, it never let me down once apart from general wear and tear etc....a feat my golf HAS to beat as the golf replaced the escort as my daily hack

we will see....

Happeend to notice as I got out of the car this morning it was on 129,999!!

Don't wanna drive it home now - it's currently under 130,000 miles! ha ha

i think mines has done about 153000 miles L reg 1.9 td. i cant go and check cause its in the garage gettin fixed! lol gettin new back brake shoes, cylinders and brake pipes i think! lol will find out what its all had wen i get it tomo
