Hi all
Been thinking about upgrading the golf a little bit, 1st thing was induction kit, found this on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230221736016&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=013
but this would involve removing the air flow meter, surely this is not a good thing?
Also been thinking about the exhuast, was thinking about a cat back system including a de-cat pipe? Worth doing?
cheers!

hello,
no, removing the air flow meter is not a good thing. the engine wont run without it being connected and without air actually flowing thru it. the air filter should have an adaptor which will allow u to connect it directly to your AFM. wot make AMF do you or what year gti is it?

Dont do it

buy a panel filter and drill the airbox..cheaper and gives same power unless you can get a really good cold air feed to the indy kit
-
cheers for that, just found this on ebay? anyone know if these are any good? is worryingly cheap.

Thats an awful. they will lower performance if its no branded, and wont even sound good, get a KN cone or a filter and drill the box.
-
That is a direct fit filter, was planning to drill the box and fit that air filter or a pipercross one, just that the pipercross one is £30 and that is £7 :undecided: You usually get what you pay for, but just wondered if anyone has had any experience with DNX products, some positive comments in there feedback but when cars are involved i would rather fit something branded.

K&N or pipercross.

yep, just go for a panel filter. i ended up taking the cone filter off my mk3, i tried pipercross and k&n, loud noise but only drew warm air into the engine.

Need some cold air feed to force the cold air up into the engine bay

what does drilling the air box achieve? thinking about doing mine, i have run some ducting from the lower grill directly into the air box. so will i gain anything from drilling
-
It just enables more air to get into the engine, say at the moment the air filter has one cold air feed, if you dill lots of holes the, amount of air able to pass the filter is greatly increased.
-
drilling the air box only works if you drill the wing side (otherwise you get hot engine air that kills power)

As whoever put on the rubbish Kand N induction kit on my car is causing it to splutter and cut out, Im lookign for an original / replacement panel box?
(the actual filter housing black plastic box case thing)!
Anyone have one?
Its worth an ask as a lot of you may have replaced yours for cones and have the old ones lying around?
If not, where can I get one from?
Thanks
(mk3 16v... would this be the same box as the 8v?)
-
Well I will be installing the K&N induction kit on my car but not getting rid of the original box.
I also have brand new Iridium Tough plugs installed and that improved the car a bit.

i have a spare piper panel fillter if you want ?
£20 ???
