Pull a sparkplug and see if its sparking on turnover (if you've got the tools to hand?)
A while back mine wouldn't start after doing some engine work. A jump start wouldn't get it going, but a bump start worked first time, and its been fine since - must be something to do with fuel pressures etc.
-
havent seen if it has a spark but i have tryed bump start and off another car neither works. its was driving then when it was idling it would cut off then it would start then cut off while idling then eventualy wouldnt start any idea

8v or 16v ??
-
8v mate i just dont get it could it be the lift pump or main fuel pump metering head i just dnt no

TRANTER geza i feel your pain the same things happening to my 8v the car was running mint then suddenly started cutting out now it wont turn over its pickling my brain still havent found out what it is i keep tellin myself its gotta be something stupid. ive checked the battery which is on 1147v changed the spark plugs cleaned most the connectors i could see HELP!!
thnks

I'd check the spark first and if thats ok on all cylinders then lift pump and main pump.
If theres a weak or no spark change the plugs first, then HT leads and then dizzy cap and rotor. If there's still no spark after that then change the coil.

Just had a similar problem. The AA man traced it to a faulty hall chip in the dizzy. Changed the dizzy, alls OK with the world.

sound lads ill give that a try fingers crossed

stupid question but where are these pumps located? thnks

stupid question but where are these pumps located?
The main pump is underneath the car at the rear (you can't miss it) and the lift pump is inside the fuel tank, accessible via the hatch under the boot carpet.
Be careful around your fuel tank though - not something to dick around with!!
