 well my car is gone, hit some black ice on a duel carraige way bend and lost all control, slammed into the divisions and then into a fellow motorist (bmw, shes ok thankfully just shaken) I'm gutted, things are not looking good as there is substantial damage to the front of the car including the suspension, all the wheels, bumper, bonnet, headlights the list is endless.....
Just waiting to hear back from the insurance to see if shes a write off  cant beleive it, im happy to be safe but feel sick to think that i might not get my beloved GTI back! Will get some pictures up when i get the chance, as im off to pick up my ford ka courtesy car :embarassed:
sigh

Sorry to hear that mate, had a little slip and slide myself last night, it reminds you that these cars arent toys and there actually is a nice bit of power under the hood so got to be careful, managed to correct it in time but still!
Once again sorry to hear that!
-
cheers for the replies, im still waiting to hear back from the garage about the situation. just went to enterprise to pick up my MATIZ! i'm loving the 0.8litre power, and the micro machine styling! hope none of the chavers i used to humiliate in the golf recognise me at the lights in it  although i'd still try! trying to transfer the pics of the crash over from my phone so you lot can have a butchers! I hate these threads :( Always make me sad :(
Glad you all ok, got my fingers crossed for you. I honest dont know what I would do if something like that happened to me. Iv had a similar incident on a dual carrageway where there was LOTS of stnading water and I aqua planed, but it was on the straight and I managed to get her back on, scary stuff.
pmsl at that comment about smashing up the bimmer :D
-
Get it back on the road, fix up look smart and all that. Even if i rolled mine, i would try and fix it.
hard luck but happens to the best of us.

Im so sad :(
Gutting
-
gutted.
fixable though is it?
-
its unclear at the moment, due to the valuation of the car it may be a write off due to the expense of labour (if so i'll buy it back and do it myself) but the chassis may also be damaged and if thats the case then its byebye GTI
I've been looking for another one just in case and its very hard to find an example in as good condition as this one (AUM, Recaros, Traction control, 3door) man i love this car! waiting for the insurance engineer to get back to me with the news!
-

By the way did this happen in derby? I know that road so well lol.

Insurance, take away the umbrella when it rains....
-
yeah its sunny ol derby....i drive that road everyday, couldnt believe it! Well i hear from the insurance guys on monday so keep your fingers and toes crossed for me!
-
sh!t man -nice claim for the car in front
-
there wasnt a car in front, i hit the barrier and then a BMW from the side :embarassed: dont know where all the grip went. Of all the times something like that had to happen it happened then and there! poor play!
-
everything crossed 4 u mate, let us no what they say asap :afro:
-
Hope the verdict comes out good tomo. I certainly know my insurers would run a mile if i done this!
-
i'm hoping 6 years ncb with protection and an immaculate driving record to this point may help :undecided:
-
any news yet mate
-
heard back from the insurance guys that its a total loss  due to the fact it would be financialy uneconomical to fix it. Just have to wait for the engineer to call to give me the specifics...looking at buying it back from the scarppers and fixing it myself if there are no safety issues. i'm gutted only going to get trade price according to glasses back for it, so looking at a loss of at least 1k
gonna have to start looking for a new baby! anyone see one simalar to mine for around 4k let me know!
-
oh no mate im sorry to hear that, be good if u can buy it back as a project car and get it back on the road,
will keep my ears out to find u a new baby
-
thats a shame mate, gutted for you, from the pics it looked like it coulda been saved, good luck with finding another
-
unlucky mate, i would deffo try and buy it back if the price is right.
-
If it is a write off and you are looking for another one I might be thinking of selling my car as my other half is pregnant again so probably selling both our Golf's to fund a 7 seater .
Mine is same spec as yours 96k on the clock, but full VAG history. Just a thought anyway :undecided:
But really hope you can get your car sorted as they look really nice in Grey
-
Stu, I will be looking for a 1.8T from May onwards and you are not that far away from me, do you think you will still have her in May?
-
Yeah, baby's not due until October time so no mad rush to sell. I'll keep you posted Alan as you mentioned before that you were thinking of getting into the forced induction scene
-
Just had a read on this. Gutted for you. Let it go and find another as it will never drive the same as it did before, no matter how well it's done.
Good luck fella.
-
:) Insurance on the 2.0 will be renewed on May 10th and then im just gunna look about and pay the extra on the insurance once I got the new car. I might even come down on the 27th April (day after my bday) and take a butch lol (like a kid at xmas :D)
-
Finally heard back from the insurance today, its mixed news really. The car is a write off...repairs would cost around the 4k mark, but they are willing to pay me the trade price of the car. After assessing the damage and the state of the car the offer made to me was £4,200 minus my excess which was £550 so i will have £3650 to put towards a new car!
I am sad because i did love that car and the colour! But am going to take this as a learning experiance and hopefully return with an even better Golf. Just gutted that the cars is going to scrap..i will let you guys now where it goes as its grade A salvage material!
So the hunt begins! i'll keep you guys posted...and would appreciate if you guys would let me know of any motors you see (especially in grey!) has to be 1.8t with AUM engine though!

A minutes silence please . . . . . .
