Title: Modding a GTI 1.8T
Post by: MarkPartington on 14 February 2008, 12:41
Hi All,

This is my first post so forgive me if this has been answered already but I'm having trouble deciding what to do with my car. It has not currently been bought but I am well on my way to getting it. The main question is this, is there any specific order you should modd a car, i.e. exhaust first then remapping etc? Also if there are any experts out there, what sort of modds can be applied to the Golf 1.8T GTI, as I will be upgrading the car over a long period of time I don't want to start splashing out on things that would not benefit me as much until something else is installed.

Thanks in advance people.

Air filter is the 1st mod you should go for IMO!

Remap if you want a big increase in power, I plugged my new ECU in on the weekend and jesus is there alot more power!

I got 2 AUM Ecu's. One standard and one which had a map on it, not sure what power its running but I know a generic map takes an aum lump to between 210 and 220 plus mods.

Took the standard one out and put the mapped one in - big difference!
