I recently bought a ?92 MKIII VR6 ? with lowered suspension ? It has original 15? BBS wheels and I had 4 Continental 205/50 R15 fitted. The Camber was previously set a ?3deg and the garage adjusted this to -.9deg. The shocks are Bilstein VNE 4122 and the springs are orange with the serial number VW4380 but I don?t know the make. The problem I have is the driver?s side tyre rubs occasionally on the wheel arch when driving on bumpier roads. Can anyone help me or at least tell me the make of the springs and how much they will have lowered the car from standard?

Thats why I dont like lowering cars that are lowered as standard. ::)

Thanks for that but I was hoping for something a little more constructive - could it be just a buggered shock on the driver's side???

I wasn't clear on where you're rubbing (damn Brits.. Seak English damn it) :D), but I'm guessing that your centerline is a bit off and your rubbing the inner part of the arch or strut under rough conditions.
You problably have more room on the other side of the wheelwell. Wheel spacers should offset you in the right direction. Take a straight edge and line it straight down from the fender by the center of the wheel, now measure the distance from the wheel to the straight edge. A spacer to fill in (some or all of) the difference will also make the car look better. ;)

I should have said its rubbing on the outer edge of the wheel arch - could be that the wing has just been bent in slightly - will have a look!

There's something wrong there - you can lower a Mk3 a long way on standard 15's before you have any problems with the fronts catching the wheel arches. Does the wheel sit in the arch in the same sort of position as the other side, or does it seem to stick out more?

Everything looks symmetrical as far as I can see although the edge of the wing was slightly recessed (maybe <10mm) to the edge of the bumper. I have managed to pull the wing out to match the other side but there is hardly any leeway and have yet to give the car a proper test drive. I am not sure how low my car is compared to normal - the top of both wheel arches are 23 inches from the ground, it doesn?t look extremely low to me?!

I think maybe you should start taking measurements to see what should be done..
Measure from the ground to the bottom and ground to top of the struts, left and right, also, from the hub to top of strut.
Also take a look at and around the strut tower for prior unibody damage. This can happen from bottoming hard and often as well as an accident.
Fender alignment would be next, but as that is easier (and cheaper to fix) rule out the bigger problems first.
