Title: 195's on a VR6....
Post by: DazVR6 on 12 February 2008, 21:46
Would putting 195's on my 15's be a bad move or would they be just as good as 205's..?

id stick with the 205 more grip and you need all the grip you can get from the standard wheel/tyre combo

less rubber on the road how can it handle better?
Title: Re: 195's on a VR6....
Post by: saul79 on 12 February 2008, 22:35
thats why they fit wider tyres =more grip

i aint got a clue just going on what iv been told in the past by my mate who works at tyre fitting places, something to do with the sidewall which is not as tall

they will be better on fuel aswell, and also look alot better, not to mention they are cheeper than 205's?

195 better tighter side walls   really !!!!

bullsh!t mate -stretched tyre can cause shoulder burns(more pressure on sidewall) -giving you a blowout.

205 on a 15" are standard size on the bbs -195's are too narrow less contact with the road thats why the vr has 205's standard  read the rest off the thread

i dont mean it like that as in on a 9" rim -hard to explain in words and i aint going to bore anyone with it lol.
Title: Re: 195's on a VR6....
Post by: kells on 12 February 2008, 23:07
you mean when people stretch rubber on their 8 or 9 inch bbs splits etc, which is fair enough coz their is a risk factor in that but not by putting 195 on a 6.5 inch wide standard rim
Title: Re: 195's on a VR6....
Post by: saul79 on 12 February 2008, 23:09
yes but you do have less grip with 195 's on then the 205's

Had 195s on the front of mine (didn't drive it too hard, mind) but really couldn't tell the difference. But then I don't track day or Gary about anymore - I'm too damn old...
