Title: wheel bearing

Anyone had one replaced on their mk5 GTI ?...if so, what were the symtpoms...I'm hearing a droning noise...especially on new smooth tarmac..

Could be your tyres.  Goodyear F1's are known for a wheel-bearing type noise.

I'm also getting said droning noise, but once again it seems to be specific to the road surface. Mine is affected by rougher roads.
