hello
changed the drivebelt tentioner on the mk4 1.8t as the other one was chewed up and burnt around one edge. (The drive belt flew off too)
Total cost about £80 for the tentioner and belt.
Can anyone explain why this happend? The damage on the tentioner was on the closest edge to the engine.
Once i replaced the tentioner the belt kept on slipping away from the engine so i used a washer spacer behind the bottom tentioner bolt to make it run straight with the belt (now the belt doesnt slip away). Anyone with me so far? :laugh:
Is this common or did i forget to refit a part :rolleyes:
