Long story but bear with me.
MK5 GTI on Ebay (always sus) with bidding starting from just 1865 and in one of the pics states that they will accept a buy it now price of just 8600. The spec is pretty high (06 plate, lux and winter pack, Monza II's leather) so i assume this is a miss type and should be 18600. Anyway, put my bid in all going well untill after about 3 hrs ALL of the current bids are rejected because "buyer did not contact seller" i had emailed 2 or 3 times during the first 2 days. I am then blocked from re instating my bid, i was gutted and a bit miffed. Thsi then continued with everysingle bid being rejected and the car ended up selling for 1865 to "bidder 1"
Get an email the next day from the seller explaning that they have moved to Germany with the car to start a business and now need to sell it quick. They are saying (and this is what i need help with) I will pay the 8600 they are asking for to Ebay who will hold the funds, once they have the funds the car will be shipped to me ad i have 7 days to inspect, if all is well i release the funds and get one hell of a deal.
Problem is that it just seems too good to be true and i dont know enough about ebay or paying methods to be sure.
Any advise would be VERY welcome.

All seems a bit fishy to me!! I would stay away and not give any money away!

Regular scam.
As soon as you saw the 8600 price you should have realised :)

if it seems too good to be true, it usually is. i nearly fell for the same trick with a gsxr 1000 in Holland. i offered to go over there with a van pay cash and pick it up, didn't hear from the tosser again. offer to go to him and pick it up, he'll run a mile.
-
Wouldn't go near that with a barge pole!!! No way would I part with that sum of money to some punter over the net that isn't even in the UK
Walk away.
-
run a mile, scam all over it, seeing as ebay dont hold your money.
dont pay a penny, you will never get a mk5 gti for that kind of cash.

Not a bad idea. Might try that this afternoon

It's a huge scam, don't even waste your time. They all follow the same story. How would ebay ever 'hold the funds'?
See the same thing on pistonheads all the time.
