Anyone here driven/owns a MK2 GTI with a VR6 engine conversion, if so what did you think? How much better than a MK2 GTI 16v or 8v?

I was at Cadwell recently in my 20VT and the legendry GVK mk2 VR6 was there. We did lots of laps together so I could compare how they went.
GVK is a handy driver and pedals fast. His car makes 200bhp and 200lbft, and the torque showed coming out of slow corners where he could get the power down smoothly and progressively (he has a peloquin diff too that helps)
Going into corners he did have to turn in slower than me, but on fast curves there seemed very little between them.
I know there is lots of talk of understeer and barge like performance, I physics says it can't handle as well as lighter engined alternative mk2, ultimately my car was faster than his, but then I brought my car to the track on a trailer and he had to drive his home, so our driving styles were rather different!
Depends what you are looking for.
If you want a track car, I'd stick with 4 cylinders.
If you want a 1/4 miler then I'd fit 6 cylinders and a charger
If you want a very sexy sounding, gutsy road car. VR6 all the way.
