when im driving (pretty much just going over any small bump) there is a banging coming from the rear drivers side wheel. its like something banging the arch if u follow me? ive had the wheel off, and everyhting around the strut/spring seems to be in order. could anyone put any light on this? ive had someone sit in the back seat to make sure its not the seat. its a Mk4 1.8t. Thanks in advance for any help. also i have 18 inch wheels (with shtandard 1.8t suspension). Andy

most likely the rear suspension bushes; common fault unfortunately mate
bushes are cheap but the labour varies; tihnk i had mine done at VW for £130 or thereabouts :undecided: if the garage has the proper equipment it should be a 2 hour job or less i think

Afff, fair enough mate. Wont be paying for the garage to do 'em, so shouldn’t be too bad. Which specific bushes are they mate? i.e. what are the linking? Thanks, Andy

not sure tbh mate; i just booked it into the garage and told them to change the rear suspension bushes.
take your reg / chassis no to your local dealer and they should be able to point you in the right direction unless someone with ETKA on here can have a butchers for you; i would but i'm stuck in work

no worries. I think it’s the rear anti roll bar bushes by the looks of it. 8 and a bit notes from GSF. Winner! Be an easier job than the last 2 weekends of rebuilding mt BRM's VVC engine and suspension….i hope.lol
