Title: 16v swap problems... please help!
Post by: Geeman on 10 February 2008, 19:15
I've just done a '90 1.8 Corrado 16v swap into a '91 Jetta 1.8 GL carb model.

Jetta now has 16v engine, mated to an 8v gearbox (to get over hydraulic clutch problem)

Jetta 'engine' loom removed and unplugged from fusebox.

Corrado 'engine' loom removed and put into Jetta, plugged into fusebox to replace old Jetta 'engine' loom. All re-conncted up to new 16v engine.

In-tank fuel lifter pump, external fuel pump and filter, complete with loom removed from Corrado and put into Jetta relacing the old in-tank fuel pump and wiring harness that ran back to front. Corrado fuel lines also used to replace Jetta items. New loom plugged into the old loom's position in the Jetta fusebox.

Everything plugged in and ready to go. Engine turns over but there's no spark. Also, no 'buzz' from fuel pump.

Anyone got any ideas as to what it could be?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Giles.

there should be a red jumper wire from 30 to 30b on models with fuel injection, check my fusebox FAQ :)
edit: and did you fit the fuel pump relay from the corrado as well?

Will check your FAQ's... thanks.
