Title: help needed please

car wont start it turns over trys to start butnothing but an hour before it did but as soon a syou try to accelerate it dies. anyone no what this is as im ment to be at the body shop first thing for body work and spray job .
1: plenty of fuel
2: relay seems to work and buzz after trying to start from pump but not before
3: been sat for a few months

anyone please help its a k-jet 1986 gti 8v

not sure i didnt leave much in , enuff to start and run , i actually pulled away today got a bit dwn the road then it started to cut out so i put a 5ver of fuel in but nothing i dnt no what to do

check the lift pump!  unplug the big plug on the main pump under the car, then turn the key 1 click.  if you dont hear the in-tank lift pump then it be dead :)
