Post by: joesgti on 10 February 2008, 11:13
i was in blackpool yesterday and drove past the VW garage, decided to go in and have a nosy around  there was a few r32's in there so i decided to test drive one, they wouldnt even let me as im not 25!! b@stards and with a gti parked outside youd have thought theyd be keen!!

anyways got chattin to a sales man and asked about the r36, apperently its only coming out in a passat!! so no golf r36 unless anybody fancies swapping the engine

The r36 has been done already and actually hold a record for the fastest hatchback at some thing like 204mph 3.6 turbo in a mk5 r32.

Think we all know the R36 is going to be a bloody passat!! Theres no way VW are also going to market a golf R36 as the passat already(when launched) has filled the niche.
Although it will be a nice thing and probably quick it will lose so much cash on its residuals as it is "seen" as a passat a fast rep mobile.I dont think it will have the desirability of say a Audi S4 although may be as quick.
I personally think VW will launch a "special edition" golf just before the mark 6 along the lines of the Golf RS or the Golf Rave concepts.
I wish VW werent so secrative with their products its so frustrating sometimes.
Inthe world of what do you drive? i,d sooner say a"golf r32 than a passat r36".

GOLF R32- uber cool.
PASSAT R36- well its a passat!!!

All said come on vw bring a super quick Golf to the masses,i,m talking 5 secs to sixty and serious torque,it can be done, why dont they supercharge the exsting R32 as a run out, say a R32s or similar.

We cant let the likes of the forthcoming focus RS etc beat us!!!
