Post by: duffy78 on 09 February 2008, 20:50
can anyone tell me the usual length of time between long life services?

my gti had a long life service this time last year and the service indicator is saying im due another service, does this sound right?

Welcome to the forum Duffy

Long life states up to 20,000 miles or 2 years (whichever comes first).

If you rag your car mercilessly then you will get less miles between servicing as the ECU "detects" the condition of your oil and adjusts the length of time to service accordingly.

I've seen a few on here and other forums complaining that it comes up in a shorter period than they thought. The mileages I've seen are anything from an astonishingly low 9.5k miles. More usually it seems to be 13k miles up.

Hurdy's dead right slap the beast with your whip  :embarassed: she wont go as far as when you cajole the lady .  My previous car MK V Gti did 22,000 before its firstlong service and I still had my fun in her, the other factor you have to consider is where you drive. I am rural and most runs are 20 miles + each way, if you are a townie then all that stop start will knock hell  :huh:out of your oil, hence shorter service intervals. Not sure what Hayseldens charged for my last service, think it was  under £200, most or a lot of which is the oil for long service intervals
