Title: Best brake set up
Post by: Mk3_Mac on 08 February 2008, 13:06
Hi guys
Wheels are currently squeeling their heads off for some unknown reason so I've got it booked into KAM after I get back from Egypt.

Whats the best brake set up? I need front and rear, pads and discs changing.
Any one used the Brembo GT kit?

Suggestions on a postcard please....

All depends on how deep your pockets are!

On the other hand you can beat standard Gti brakes with the calipers from an Austin Princess!!!

Budget I havent really thought about. Looking to go with the 312mm front discs (similar to the tt/s3 set up)

Is that last comment serious Len??

PS Think i saw u the other week going under whitehouse bridges...

Yes! The Austin Princess had twin pot calipers!

P.S. I live not far from there so maybe going into town.

Standard atm! works fine enough for now. Will wait and see if remap makes a difference and maybe just go for drilled discs with uprated pads.

Rather than getting a setup similar to a TT setup...

why not just get a TT setup?

currently squeeling their heads off

Does the sqeelin noise indicate that your pads of discs are worn out?

Sorry for late reply..been away for weekend!
Ref tt set...mate purchased the Brembo junior GT kit for 600 notes. 312mm discs, calipers, hoses, and pads... so that was the kit i was looking at.
Ref the noise...had an advisory that the rear discs and pads were in poor condition at the last MOT and fronts werent looking too hot either!
All booked into Kam tomorrow morning for an assessment, service, and overhaul on everything..
