Title: oil pump

i'm changing the sump on my valver soon anyone know how much a new oil pump is?
apart from that is there anything else i will need?

as for doing the job, only thing you need to know is there is a little tin plate on the back of the gearbox bellhousing at the bottom, if you have a late car it comes off giving you access to the sump bolts there.  You'll still need a thin socket extension with a wobble joint on it to get to em though :)

When you start the job, try those bolts first  :grin:

its a shrick sump on an 88 valver :smiley:

i thin 88 is late enough for the removable lower cover.  is the shrick sump already fitted, if so IIRC they came with replacement allen bolts which means you should be able to get em all out easily, provided you have a long allen bit for your socket set :)

Try VW dealer, I got gen from there a few years ago and it was something like £30 odd pounds and comes with a all the bits too, the pick up and plastic baffle thing which does want replacing at the same time as they have been known to break-up with age and then block the pick-up.
