Title: power caps
Post by: Dizzie on 30 March 2004, 23:36
has anyone noticed an improvement when using a power cap in their setup?

mine still cuts out when it's been flat out for ages until you turn it down. I upgraded to 4 gauge cable to power it and that improved the sound, but still cutting out.

just wondered if this ?99 cap is making any difference.

A cap is purely there to provide you with power when you have a drain on normal load, I.E a heavy bass section and I would imagine that continual driving of a sub will not allow the cap to get back up to its full storage capacity so in theory your draining it before its been allowed to fill back up.

Like trying to fill a bath with the plug out.

Maybe try one of a higher farad rating as it sounds like the one you have isnt up to the job.

I'd have to agree with modulater here ... sounds like your taste in music and choice of cap just isn't gonna work !!!

How have you got the cap wired too - quite often I've seen some crazy wiring jobs and it's almost as important as the hardware itself !!

I was thinking of updating the battery for something ultra heavy duty that i cant transfer from car-to-car if i sell the car on.
