Title: FLI Speakers? any good
Post by: Mikester on 06 February 2008, 17:34
So i was wating for paint to be mixed at halfords and got chattin about 17cm speakers to replace in my GTI. And he recommended FLY for speakers, he reckoned they were as good as JBL for sound without being amped up.

Anyone got any?

yeah maybe FLI then, either way he reckoned they were the balls? And they have low profile fronts unlike a lot of 16.5cm speakers?

Any recommendations for 16.5 speakers for my front back of my mk3?

I have a fli 17cm setup in mine. they are the bees. handle evrything iv thrown at them.

not too much tweet either.

The 17cm are 100watt rms so you would be best amping them anyway as your HU will only give them about 18 - 25watts rms.

Cheers, maybe they are the way forward. Will have to post up a thread when i have them, on the best way to amp them all, as im not very good with amping audio etc etc.

If you do amp them you should be looking for an amp that has least 100watt RMS x2 @4ohms (x4) if you plan on running 2 sets.

all depends on how crisp and loud you want your system to be.. they are called budget for a reason, but sayin that i had some 13s in my old pug and they ruled, did handle really well.

how much you wana spend?

Not bothered on price TBH, But the fact is, the better sounding ones, looks so chavy and worse, i want some low profile ish ones, that dont stand out, but preform!

mine are rainbow standard speakers in the rear and comps in the front, they have the standard speaker covers so the car looks original still..  and will be awesome along side JL sub and amp...

but as with everything... you get what you pay for

Wel i work for a halfords branch and well..i cant raly fault the FLI speakers as theyr pretty good and the clarity can match those of the like of JBL's and many others.
FLI is a subordinate brand of VIBE so if you'v herd of VIBE..you're pretty much buying the same build quality as VIBE.
I would consider a FLI any day if i was going down the route of upgrading speakers n subs etc...
The 17cm speakers sound good enough str8 off the head unit..not necessary to amp them as if you go wrong you will be prone to overpowering em and wel..blowing em...n if thats the case.u wil have problems if you bought em from us and decided to return em as the reason behind non-refund or exchange will be down to false fitting mishap!

thats jus the reality of how it goes but otherwise i can say that they are good speakers.

Hi mate... I would strongly recommend Fli. For the price they give fantastic sound quality. I've had about 3 pairs and been happy with them all. Currently got 6" components in the front doors and dash and also 350 Watt 6x9s which i got for around £30. When run off an amp the sounds quality is as i said... fantastic.
