Hi all, my mark 2 is just the nuts, and i am getting the outside to look like new (slowly but surely) but i am struggling to do the engine bay, it is old and manky and i am a technophobe so am terrified of getting the electrics wet when i clean it. Any hints and tips that dont involve taking things apart would be much appreciated. :undecided:

How come the engine is manky if the car has only done 40k - re. your other entry about mileage????

I just use WD-40 and lots of engine degreaser sprayed all over then clean off with rags I don`t ever use water pressure washer etc. After a few goes doing this every so often it soon looks clean enough.Works for me fine unless you want to start replacing re-painting manky parts..
