-
Erm.....

and my clocks say 56k
cut 'n shut y'all
-
Thats 251000 miles all added up, perhaps thats the highest mileage mk2 out there, although i would doubt it!? Perhaps another poll is required
-

question is do i tweek it or leave it, it seems such a shame to play with it when it could be a really clean original example, but i have this urge to make it into a super dub!!
-
The plan for mine is to modify it in a way that it can be relativelysimply turned back to the original condition should needs be.
Cos original ones only go up in value when its time to sell
No de-badging for me then!
-
mines low
today it rolled on 165000. still strong n tight
-
Mines nearing 128k but was just over 125k 2 months ago!
Damn my urge to drive
-
Daily has done over 230k y'all
I do at least 50 miles a day in it
-
mine rolled over to 114K today ... it was 92k 18 months ago lol
-

I'm lovin' the mileage range you've used... Its like:
Option 1) Click here if your Mk2 is still on delivery miles
Option 2) Click here if your Mk2 has done more than that
-
69k on a 90 G plate, all history and MOTs from new, shame the paint has gone pink or it would be mint.
-
your right conker,
i think it would be best to start another thread with the highest mileage, what do you think it will end up at 300k give it a whirl and we will see what happens. looks like someone outdid me too with a sub 40k mk2, awesome! there is nothing like a tight low mileage golf down a back road forget your modern cars, dull dull dull
-
forget your modern cars, dull dull dull
amen!
-
not just me then!!
-
not just me then!!
Seriously, I drive around looking at boring f##king meganes, MPV's, and vectra's and just think "Why?" I was worse when I first got the Mk2 - At the time a mate bought a £25,000 silver diesel beemer and I sort of fell out with him in my head for being such a dullard.
Sure, stuff breaks on them more often, but it means a trip to GSF (or at the very worst a scrappy), as opposed to driving to the local dealer, connecting it to a laptop, shortly followed by a bum r@ping session when you get your wallet out.
Rant over.
-
Mine's got about 150-odd K
I'm glad it's not low mileage - I'd not want to drive it if it was!
And clean, original examples should always be kept as such, if you want to modify it go out and get a sub-standard one

could not agree more..a "friend" recently spent £7000 on the new corsa!?! i didnt laugh in his face but i did have a major chuckle when i got off the phone! he wanted to race my 8v, i saved him the embarassement and said my car sluggish atm
I payed £450 for my golf, and it all round its a much nicer to drive, and a hell of a lot faster.. what does that other £6500 get ya, JACK squat imo!

what does everyone else think on this, should i keep this one nice or sell it (but dont tweak it) and get a slightly less nice one and play with that?? or should the devil in me tweak the hell out of it and to hell with the purists??

62k on mine :)
-
Have 185 on the shell, 7,000 on the bottom end, 185 on the top, 120 on the gearbox, 10 on the driveshafts, and the new bolt i put on the alternator bracket this morning has done around 6.
-
57k on my 1988 F Reg. All genuine too, got the service history.
-
J reg 56k genuine mileage but to scared to drive it.
-
i know what you mean, i took mine out today love driving it but cursed coz another 100 miles added onto the clock. i think i should have bought one which is a bit up on the miles then i would not care! love drivin it though best car in the world ever.

My sentiments exactly - don't molest it Volkston
-
Mine has 746miles on the clock.
Although the chassis has done 130k and the engine has done 45k, the dash has 746!
-
a nice standard mk2 should always benifit from better suspension. makes your driving happier and safe. altho i have never driven a gti on standard suspension as i lowered mine befor i drove it (dads car) but my 1600 was discusting. terrifieing (spellings ,thursday nite drink lol)
i like mine lowered and on bbs rims mayb not the original but not chavford jobbies so in my eyes its standard.
now scoobie bonnet vents and WALE TAIL spoilers is another story for poor people on estates with a gyro wage
-
Just over the 120k mark, maybe 128k now?
Got it @ 117K ish... I think...
Should check my doc's really.
