Title: ABT Tuning
Post by: Peskarik on 06 February 2008, 13:31
ABT has finally reconstructed their webpage, and now they offer three tuning packages for E30:

265hp/350Nm = 1369Euro
310hp/420Nm + bigger brakes = 3808Euro
330hp/???Nm + new turbo (900Euro extra if car has more than 15000 on the clock) + bigger brakes = 7878Euro

prices are, of course

what do you think of this power curve?

Oh, and ABT takes over manufacturers warranty, max 100.000km or 2 years since the day of new car's delivery (so in my case one year is almost gone already).

265??

Look at those prices!
Side skirts: 464 + 142 for montage + 322 for painting! MAMMA MIA!

And the 310hp package is not 3808, but 3808+357 for montage. Of this sum 2300 are the 345mm brakes with stalflex brake lines.

interesting , looks like they consider 265 PS for std brakes.

Def a diff outlook to all previous tuning on the ED30!
From what I have read , 330 is OK on std turbocharger as its a K03 as long as you improve intercooler.

Brakes is a weak point tho

I've read quite a few posts with people not happy with the brakes on the Edition 30, some of you must really hammer your motors/brakes because I've never had any problems with them! And I consider myself to be quite hard on my car! Are you all referring to their use on a track?

are the brakes on the ed30 the same as std gti? they are not too good as i was racing with my dad in his carrera 4s and nearly went into the back of him....... he stopped ALOT quicker   :evil:

I think they are the same yeah. Never raced my old man! Mind you he has a Landrover Defender so it wouldn't be much fun!

I know the R32 brakes are bigger and look quite mean behind the wheels.... but even I think they are just about adequate for the R32.

Might be useful on a ED30 tho

Nope road use for me.
For me its not just absolute stopping power its also the 'feel', long pedal travel etc
std brakes are ok but have very little feel on the limit, never had much confidence in them tbh.
I find it very hard to be able to do a controlled fast decel without stepping over the line and triggering ABS.
Prev car I could brake very hard and 'feel' where the limit was.

plus of course the Golf is often travelling way faster than you thought   esp if you have a bluefin eh

Although the GTI's brakes are good, the pedal response feel isn't as good as aftermarket big brake kits such as by AP Racing. The better 'feel' and awesome but smooth stopping power is exceptional and gives bags of confidence.

Abt have always been very, very expensive!

I just don't understand how ABT survives with those outlandish prices.  :lipsrsealed:

thats what i am aiming to upgrade to.
The R32 & MK2 Cupra both get the 345mm front set up, but the Ed30 shares the gti set up.

ED30 has K04 as standard, regular GTi has K03S

well, Ottinger: 330/435 + intercooler + exhaust + intake = 3500Euro
300/400: 1200 Euro, which is still cheaper than 310/420 from ABT
