Title: Flush grill to wing & bonnet - Explanation Please
Post by: Mannings on 06 February 2008, 13:19
Does anyone know why on some MK2's the grill is flush to the wings and bonnet?

I have a valver and it is not flush, i got a new debadged 5 slat single that also protudes from the body work.

There is some damage to the front of my car, but i have seen it on other with no damage.

Also does anyone know any methods of retracting a protuding grill back in line with bonnet and grill

I think I know what you mean. The grill seems to stick out about 1cm right?

Well that's normal, they look flush in pictures but not in person.

There has been another thread about this, I cba to find it though

i had this problem...

moved the bonnet forwards ever so slightly(well as much as doesnt look stupid gap wise at the top) and then lengthened the holes that the bolts fit into on the slam panel (2 at each side) and pushed it back as far as possible., this lined it all up nicely.

i think its probs due to the grill being an aftermarket part and not genuine. but a bit of tweaking the panels and it will look fine.

If you make the top slam pannel bolt holes slightly bigger. You can then push the top half of the slam pannel back till the grill sits more flush...then tighten the bolts back up.

worked for me
