Title: Hello!
Post by: danp on 05 February 2008, 23:00
Hi,

I recently bought a nice clean 1995 mk3 GTI 16v and we have a mk2 1.8 Driver in the family. I have had a few other VW's over the years - 2 x mk3 VR6, Corrado 16v and a mk1 GTI Campaign (should never have sold it!)..so a bit of a VW fan. Ex-gf had a mk4 GTI and Dad had a mk2 GTI - must say I do fancy a mk2 valver at some point.

The current mk3 GTI is a 5 door in silver, and quite unusually (I think) it has a full black leather interior. Feels so very tight and solid, and torquier than I expected...the mk3 is fantastic vfm IMHO...a great all rounder. (trying to persuade mates to move into these from rattly/rusty 205's  ;-)

Not planning any major mods, but do need the suspension replaced ASAP - it's incredibly soft and floaty (original dampers and they have had it). Any opinions on Bilstein Streetline vs KONI Strt?! (coilovers wld be a bit pricey, and doubt I would track it or adjust the damping etc TBH).

Also - any decent garages (pref VW specialists that I could use for all work on it) in the Hampshire area? (poss Sussex / Dorset / Surrey etc if they are good!)
[have looked in the "good guys" bit so will make some calls tomo]

Will get some pics on here ASAP, hope to see some of you out and about!

Cheers!Dan

dont know any answers to your questions but hi!

have a search through the mk 3 section and if you cant see anything then ask in there. you are more likely to get a response than here
