Title: Heated seats?
Post by: scotgc on 05 February 2008, 11:38
This is probably a daft question but do all new GTI's come with heated seats as standard? Pick mines up when i get home this weekend.

No.

Option on standard GTI, included on Ed30.

Haha suppose it would come in handy, suppose you dont really need them unless you have leather seats which are baltic on winter mornings

MY GTI is on order and I went for the winter pack which includes heated seats, heated windscreen, mirrors, headlight washers etc.  Heated seats are not standard on the normal GTI.

I didn't realise the winter pack included a heated windscreen! My dad had one on his Range Rover, very useful on frosty mornings (It also had a heated steering wheel and gearknob!! Lovely )

 Yep, that's exactly how it feels! I usually turn it off after a minute, because I'm worried I might actually pee without wanting to!

Yeah, it will be very useful for me in winter because where my car is parked it's just asking for trouble with the weather (no cover or shelter).  With my current car I need to wait a good 15 mins for the windscreen to be in a clear state before I can drive anywhere!

I genuinely cannot wait until my car arrives now!

The winter pack is the option that I wish on reflection I'd opted for. When we ordered the car, it wasn't going to be used for commuting, but that might change now... Damn!

i had it on mk5 r32,and ill think you will find its heated windscreen washer jets and to be honest it dont make much difference  imo.Dont no why more manufacturers don't fit heated windscreens  like the fords

I LOVE my ED30 heated seats just now!
I end up pulling out of my car park into a queue of traffic... and queue for about 20 mins until I get going in the mornings.
The car doesnt tend to heat up very quickly sitting still - so the heated seats keep me warm!!

Heated seats are one of the most important things if you do mornings!! If not then a simple tin of beans the night before will have to do

Some curry could also work?

never had heated seats before and have to say they are a must have now
(just like xenons once youve had a car with them)
esp as others say if you commute early in the morning.

We get heated seats as a standard install over here in South Africa.
Never used them. Never will and they pretty pointless... Unless of course you wanna freak a passanger out (Oh the poor grandmother) when her butt starts burning. Those seats get hot!

Just double checked this with my dealer and they assured me that the leather front seats on new GTi's are heated.
Any MY08 owners out there who can confirm this??

The Golf heated leather seats in mine are ok, compared to those in my recenlty returned Jag S Type where the base got too hot and not much seemed to happen to the backrest.
I've just taken delivery of a 5 Series and they are in a different league - you can vary the temperature between the base and back rest (where you need it most).

I've never felt the need for heated seats on cloth seats but I'd get them if I went for leather ones.

What I really want are seats that cool, especially in the middle of summer (for the 2 days of summer that we get anyway).  Having air con is good for the front of your body but on a baking day I find that my back is still hot and sticky.

The ED30 seats are the best compromise as they are cool in summer as they are cloth on the seat squabs and then warm in winter as they are heated
