People say mk3s are 16.5/17cm
Which one, or does it not matter?
-
Im not sure what size mk3's are but they say the same size for mk4 and yes it does matter. i got 17cm which wouldnt fit into the standard pod. pop the speaker grill off and have a quick measure. sure someone with a mk3 will be along soon.

Indeed, just need to know, becuase i dont want to buy 16.5 and they are too small, or vice versa....... :undecided:

17's I think (aka 6.5in).
Harsh on Max.

Where do you measure from and too?

one side to the other across the widest point :)

Of the whole speaker, of the cone?

I have 170mm jbl's fitted and removed some sony 165mm ones...so both fit the thing to check is depth as my o.e grilles wont fit the deep jbl's but covered the sony's!! oh and the grilles that come for the speakers wont fit either!!
-
So use standard grills?

i will try and get some grills to fit, as without grills, you are asking for trouble really in that place :/
Cheers for the info

yeh i would, aftermarket grills can look tacky but then sometimes allows for extra depth..upto and how it looks
