Have heard reports that the old VW Bugs have their own way of saying hi as they drive past other bug forum owners?
What do you reckon to us all agreeing on a way of saying hi and finding other forum members just by a flash of the lights or a couple of blips of the indicators as we pass each other?????
Could be a naff idea, just a thought????
-
don't vw bug/camper owners make a W sign with their fingers?
-
....Flashing indicators isn't a good idea - It can easily confuse other motorists.
Flashing headlights always needs judgement too - A car on a side road might think you're letting them out and then....Bang!! because you aren't looking and carry on.
I usually use my hand (left hand preferred as best driving practice I've been taught)....

Honk your horn, flash your lights and then salute them................
Just don't come crying to me when some irate motorist stalks you down with road rage
What you really need is something like a flashing green VW sign in the front window that you can set off when another dubber passes......oooooh.........good cue for a new fad product placement
-
i just do a little nod of the head in acknowledgement
-
erm.. how about get out and shake there hand.. while driving... lol...
-
The first VW customers were expected to wave at each other with a nazi salute. (Though I think this custom carried over into the Bierkeller too!)
Now, there's the option of doing a V sign (or a V sign followed by W sign?) at each other...
In conclusion, perhaps it would be best if we just smile?

....Is showing 3 fingers a W salute?

i always wave at gti owners, i only do it as ALL impreza drivers wave at each other when i used to have one. i find that gti owners are not really with it and most dont understand quite what they are driving and frown or look confussed at you as if you are waving at them because you know them, only people on the forums appreciate gti's, the rest are middle aged men and women who wanted a top of the range golf
-
Some other forums have club stickers that can be subtly placed in a window, and help to identify fellow club members.
You can then be sure your wave will be returned by a like minded enthusiast.
-
there are golfgtiforum.co.uk stickers, you can buy them from this site, i think they are about 2.50 each.
-
Nice one! Please excuse my ignorance, just joined and I'm still exploring the forums. :embarassed:

....I wave at all other GTI's including earlier Mk's and both R32's irrespective of 'club'. Some wave back, some miserable twits don't.
