Only a quickie, did all mk2 16 valvers come with the 160mph clocks or just after a certain date?
My 1986 valver has got them but the speedo reads about 10mph faster than Im actually going so that makes me think I should have 140mph clocks...Although the needle is a little bent upwards
Cheers,
Andy

mines are 160 mph clock on my 88 valver, what sise wheels and tyres are
u running?

I think most golfs over-read by approx 7-10mph (more so at higher speeds) so it probably isnt anything to worry about. A new speedo cable may help bring that down though?

Standard BBS RA's but with 195/45/15's. Shouldnt make that much difference though.

If thats the case then Im happy, when I leave a junction it seems to be at 20mph straight away and Ive noticed the needle doesnt sit on the pin at the bottom when stopped. I think someones messed around with them in the past...oh well.
Cheers for the help,
Andy

yes they have been messed with. This happens when the needle has been removed.

Don't know but apparently the rev counter in a valver is more reliable than an 8v, hence I have one in mine.

my speedo = 120mph+
snooper reading = 107mph :(
