anyone know what this could be, its a loud bang coming from engine side on cold startup only, gonna get done by the firearms unit if it keeps doing it.
pumping fuel before starting seems to stop it? any ideas
-
is it a constant bang or just a one off bang on startup?
-
Sounds like your ignition timing is quite a way out causing a back-fire.
Failing that and perhaps more serious, maybe you have a burnt out valve..........out with the compression tester.
-
just a one off bang, other than that, the car runs fine!!
cant be the valves as it wouldnt hit 110 nice and smoothly and stay there would it?
-
it'll be an engine mount
-
extremely bad case of piston slap! ???
-
cant be the engine mount as its like someone firing a gun! piston slap... maybe!?! what can i try to stop this, other half`s car, she has had it for 14 years and said its been happenin for the last 7!! car seems to run fine after initial startup bang, could it be sommin wrong with the dizzy cap or sommin?

From the sound of it I might not have been too far out^^^^^, check your ignition timing.

As rich says it sounds like its not firing at first and when it does your back firing.
do you get a lovely petrol smell after the Bang?
