Title: ED30 Finally done it!
Post by: hotrod on 03 February 2008, 10:14
Hello forum buddies,

After much deliberation, I’ve finally put in an order for a Candy White Ed 30 GTI.

The info on this site has been invaluable and it has made my choice so much more informed. I’d like to say a big thanks in particular to Red Robin who has personally assisted in the last couple of weeks.

My dealer of 6-years sadly failed to win my business and it went to Elliott at Loders... very nice guy, smart dealership.

The car is at the port as we speak and should be on the road for March.

The specs are: 3-door • Manual • Luxury pack • Front Armrest • Dark Tinted Rear Glass • RCD 500 Autochanger • Multifunction Steering Wheel • 3yrs Fixed Price Servicing

I shall therefore be selling my mint Mark IV V6 4–Motion. I’ll post up some specs shortly and if anyone’s interested please contact me on s.cotterill@chscreative.com and I’ll send out the PDF spec sheet/pics.

I’ll be chatting again soon.

Hotrod

ps (Could I sleep last night... could I f*•k)

....So you went to Elliott Dodge aka "Dodgy Elliott, Rip-off King of the West".....

I'm really glad I could help. A specialised forum such as this one is invaluable and I think we all enjoy networking and helping each other. This is the best and most comprehensive forum specialising in the GTI that I know.

This is the second time I have introduced someone from outside the local area to the Loders VW dealership to buy a GTI. The other guy was from Essex and was very satisfied (he now has an expanded family and X3 BMW). Loders aren't perfect but no dealer ever is, but it's all about people and there are some really good guys there and they have a very up-to-date facility.

So, are you putting the brochures under your pillow yet? Most of us have been there - 12 weeks for me - and I tell you it gets worse and worse and worse! Tee Hee!

Nice one hotrod! Your gonna love it! The wait is torture! It doesn't feel that long ago when I was waiting for the 1st March to arrive so I could pick mine up! How the time flys!

Well Hotrod what a decision you've made  Having just put my new candy white ED30 in the garage after a legnthy drive, all I have to say is what a car!!  It gets lots of looks on the road, it is extremely comfortable and it often makes a mockery out of motors double its price. The only bad thing for you now is the wait, its worth it though when the dealer rings you up to tell you your ED30 is ready for collection, what a great feeling that is!

So t880mm, you finally got your car sorted then? Good to hear that you're having fun finally!

Hotrod - check out the other thread about the dealer screwing up your options - ask them to fax the factory order to you so you can check they didn't screw it up!

Yeah I accepted the car as I was happy with the quality of the repair and they compensated me for the inconvenience

When did you order your full Milltek?

I've had mine on order since before the new year and still haven't had confirmation of a date for fitting from Awesome

Are you sure you haven't pinched mine

I went in on Friday and put a deposit on one, they said it should be with them on the 26th and it will be fitted almost straight away, it's probably best to give them a call tomorrow. Apparently Milltek cannot manafacture them quick enough, it seems everybody wants one

Thanks guys for the support,

I have checked the factory spec list and everything is hunky dory. I’m really... REALLY looking forward to March. I’ve had a couple of sleepless nights but now everything’s slotting into place I’m feeling more relaxed.

Got to order those ace rear LEDs soon, to complete the look.

Cheers... Hotrod

These LEDs - are they darked cluster like the ED30 and R32? Is it a simple swap or is a VAG Com change needed to rid of any fault codes etc? I see them on ebay as well eg are these the ones?

....No, those fleeBay units don't look the same as mine at all! In fact closer inspection raises questions about how functional they may be!
