Title: BMC CDA onto a MK3 16v
Post by: eightyeightmph on 02 February 2008, 21:29
Hoping to get this fitted pretty soon & just wondering what others have done to get everything connected up.

The air temp valve electrical connection & the air pipe coming in from the side being my main queries???

Was thinking of drilling it to fit the connections (how it's set up on the K&N filter I have at the moment!)

Pics might help, which I'll post up tomorrow!?

Any suggestions or pics of how you've done it appreciated!

Fleabay purchase!

Installing it is pretty straight forward, it's just where to connect those two things?!

Thinking I might have to drill it to mount the connection plug for the sensor connection but wondering if one of these will do for the other pipe work??

The 'breather filter' part...

This is where I am at the moment ( have replaced the torn rubber tube though  )

From left to right, the connection (air temp??) then random pipe which isn't connected to anything which has presumably been the case since the original airbox was removed, then finally the pipe on the right.

Any suggestions as to what I need to do to 'tidy' it up to install the BMC?

1st - Air temp senser, needs to be attached into induction kit or bmc so if there aint a hole, drill one. Had to drill a hole for my senser when i got my Raidhp induction kit so i guess it will be the same for you.

2nd - Warm air feed, just leave it as it is, this supplied warm air to your airbox to help the car warm up on cold mornings but aint really needed.

3rd - Part of your crank case breather system, just cut that pipe down and add one of those little crank case breather filters (lloks like a mini induction kit).

Brilliant, that's what I had thought, didn't know that the warm air feed was a 'warm air feed' so good to learn something new!!

Of to Halfrauds in the morning then, see if they do a breather filter the right size!!

Still got to pick up a small 'breather filter' but pretty well there otherwise! :smug:

Well I hadn't expected much difference from the old K&N filter but after a day of 'testing' all I can say is WOW.

Definate improvement, more torque, faster acceleration, smoother all roud driving & definate more power in the higher gears!

Defo worth the £150 rrp ( not that I paid that! )

I had a similar result after mine was fitted, unbelieveable increase in pick up. BMC are excellent!
