Title: BBS split rims cleaning help
Post by: MAT ed30 on 02 February 2008, 14:51
ok i have just picked up a set of split rims for the mk2 and would like to know the best way to polish up the lips as they are a bit scabby as they are original and still have lacquer on the outer lips and this is the bit that needs cleaning up. any help or info would be very helpful as i would like to do it myself if thats possible

maybe not the answer you wanted but the only solution, is to strip and get the re-furbed, or re-furb them your self. splitting themis a matter of removing the tyres, unbolting, knocking the rim off with a rubber mallet or if its not budging, sticking it in the oven for a short while.
re-furbing is a pain in the ass due to the intricate nature of the wheels, but is essentially a case of rubbing down and re-painting. at this stage most people would buy new wider rims. ;)
