Hello everybody, got a little problem with my 99 gt tdi 110. When I turn the ignition key the glow plug light on the dash goes out almost straight away, so it really struggles to start as they aren't warmed up properly. What I have to do now is turn the ignition on & off 4 or 5 times before I start it, then it starts fine. The plugs themselves are fine, I just need to know what to do to make them stay on longer? My mate reckons it's all controlled by the ECU? Hope not as there's now way I can afford a new one of these!

that could be a similar problem to mine mate, my post is a bit further down :undecided:
ive also been told about a relay with 601 on it, located under the steering wheel, that that can be cleaned and refitted which is supposed to cure it.
im just going to try mine now.

ok mate thanks for the info, let me know how you get on
-
ok, that didn't cure it, changing the glow plugs.
now i can't find where the relays are, ive found the compartment with all the fuses in but no relays
anybody help me?

relays could well be under the steering wheel
to remove the trim you need a torx 10 / 20 bit and remove around 10-12 screws. First you remove three to remove the out pieces and then a further 7 or so to remove the rest
you should be able to see everything then

have a look about halfway down the link to my page - you'll see them then
