Any of you guys checked out the GTI Pirelli 230 available in France. What do you think...................?

Its yellow
-
The seats are something else!
-
VW decided not to bring it to the UK back in September. It was meant to be the next limited edition after the ED30.

Imagine takin that in to the monkeys at Kwik-Fit for a new set of boots - those muppets would end up changing the seats!
-
Not a fan of the wheels or the seats, pretty much the essence of the special edition
-
It's basically a re-branded Editon 30! :lipsrsealed:
-
indeed
-
Thumbs down from me.
Very few cars get away with being yellow and the rest is just tacky detailing that an amateur designer would do. Who the heck wants seats that look as if they've been run over!!??
-
I love it, especially the seats. Guess that makes me a weirdo!
Nick
-
I'd have had one if they did it here
-
ditto, love the yellow, seat design is great, prefer it to the tartan.

....Really? Even though the tartan pays homage to the iconic GTI? - Each to their own of course

Yes, but the tyre marks up the seat pay homage to everyone who has been run over by a GTI  :lipsrsealed:
-
not a fan of the seats or the alloys. I wouldnt spend my money on it.....
-
I don't mind the mustard colour, but the seat material looks  and I hate the wheels too.
Basically, it's a less nice version of the Edition 30, so I think I'll stick to the candy white baby sitting outside!
Did anyone notice that on the image on the front page, one of the xenon headlight cleaning jets is missing? Someone's been sloppy with the photoshop!
-
maximus, looking at your photos just has made me smile, went to vw dealers today and had a look at the new tiguan, which apon quick view of it, thought, no pants, boot too small, forget that idea!, the salesman then said, u might like this, ive got a black GTi 07 with dsg , sat nav, leather, all the nobs and whistles, wanna swope it for your Passat??? as i know Mr Hulbert you do miss your old GTi dont you!. Swope deal worth £21995!. i said ok will look at it tommorow when it comes in on the lorry.
Got home and foolishly said to the wife..... "fancy getting back into a GTi hun"...... was met with, you buy another then, im having a divorce!!!.(She did have a soft spot for the old GTi)
So have a real problem , do i got get a Black 5 door Git, or have a 9 month old marriage down the pan????? You wanna waste 2 grand in 3 months buying the dam passat, you made your bed, you lie in it!!!.

anyone got any ideas how i can convince her that getting back into the Golf makes sense??.
-
....If you don't mind us asking: Why would another GTI prompt thoughts of a divorce? Did you never let her drive it or something?
-
Go with the divorce. Get the car.
-
yes, she drove it more then me,but it was me wanting to change , because of our expanding family. With the car gone, im now the one pineing for another gti.
im one of those people that like to change wheels every 6 months or so and i think shes fed up of it now
-
....Phil, It's a good job you don't want to change wives every 6 months or so!
Even for a car that's a very quick change!
-
Phil,
DON'T DO IT!!!!
Wait for a deal on an ED30 instead
You know you will only want an ED30 in 6 months anyway
-
me thinks your right hurdy, best ignore the phonecall from the dealers later today
-
I still dont see why people feel that cant use the GTi as a family car. Its got 4(5) seats. You can get it in 5 door, its not small by any means.
Get the GTi !!!! The wife clearly has NO idea what shes talking about. Why is she so against it? Running costs? It cant be because she doesnt think its not a "family car" surely?

....The 5-door version is most definitely a 'family' car! That's one of the great attractions of the Mk5 GTI - It's a great allrounder. I frequently carry 3 jail-bait teenage girls in the back seat (my 16yo daughter and her mates). I've been to Bavaria with a lady friend, my daughter, and luggage including a tent etc for an open ended trip on to Italy etc. Also South of France etc with half the back seat down. No problems and the car still went well, averaging over 90 mph with a full load on autobahns half the day.

I need to be locked away, I really do . . .
-
yes its just the running costs of the GTi, as a town runaround ,clocking 25 mpg isnt very good, compared with 40 odd im getting now in the diesel. and the boot space in the golf compared to the passat is tiny. (push chair + family shop is a struggle.
Thats her argument against my case for going back to the GTi.
My case is there is NO agument and that we should get into another!.
I agree with Hurdy, by'd my time, wait for an actractive ed30 down the line a little, give it another 8 -10 months b4 some good priced 56/07 plates come available (and win the missus round of course!)
-
ive seen ed30's going for 18,000
-
A wee something to help you with your decision

thanx synnea, you have such a good heart!
-
You will thank me later once you are back in your GTI
-
Phil.
I cant say much. But if you can afford to get back in a GTI (possibly even a ED30) and its practical then I really do think you should get down to a dealer.
You clearly miss your car and it sure was a lovely car. Keep us updated.
Mike

Now I know why they didn't do the Pirelli GTI - look at the seats on this.

Phil - you can get your next GTI when you don't need to transport the pushchair anymore.
