Gave her a wash and vacume yesterday, however the paint was still dull as fook! Basically i believe it has been sitting on a drive since 1999, new battery in and started 1st time, gotta love VW's  :smug:

quick few pics of the bad points ..

Nice headligning (hopefully have a new one to replace it ;))

Holes in the seat, other seats are mint tho!

Door cards  :undecided: its a shame because this is my favorite pattern so i will have to keep my eyes peeled for some just like them :)

Today I took out the headligning, door cards and fitted some nice new chrome door pulls! Also started to T cut her and shoe polish the side strips ..

Paint work before ...

After, has alot of swirls in the paint work but cant grumble

Replaced the grey plastic trim with the metal ones

So after today she looks like this,

1. the next thing to get sorted on the 'to do list' is sort out the clocks ... somtimes they light up sometimes they dont, rev counter doesnt work etc, had this on the driver and it was just a loose connection. while the clocks are out i will be replacing the lights with blue or red led's

2. there is a hole in the exhaust somewhere so going to locate that.

3. New sparks, dizzy cap, rotar arm, leads and flush the engine and try to sort out the idle.

Title: Re: dubsport - '89 8v GTI - Rallye Interior
Post by: dubsport on 04 October 2008, 17:54
Just spent ages writing a post then clicked the wrong button and its all gone PHUCK!

Anyway today i set about taking the shocks, brake discs and pads off the donor car ... found out the shocks are Blistiens and in really good condition hopefully on monday my mate can fit my Apex lowering springs onto them and i can get rid of that 4x4 look. Took the bumper of the donor car as it was in better condition and boot polished up the trim, looks brand new  Fitted the Rallye doorcards today and rear bench so the interior is now looking like this:

and the donor car interior

Changed over a few parts from the engine bay as well, coolant bottle, short shift kit (apparently?)  mk3 weighted shift rod and the scuttle board in the H reg GTI is reall thick unlike the brittle plastic ones i have had in my other golfs so i put that in aswell

so any way how they stand tonight on the driveway, my mum loves it really ... contrary to what she says

Got the plate surrounds today, didnt realise they are the ones that lock the plate in so you dont need to screw the plate to the bumper :afro: only problem is i cant find my front plate  soooooo im going to order some new plates now ... maybe pressed plates  the yellow fog lights still havent arrived so thats the reason is still jacked up

been for the mot, needs new brake pipes which are being made up, the crystal lights beam was all over the place and the lowering springs werent sitting properly as they were on standard shocks, so ....

Bought some new headlights from GSF but might put the crystals back on after the mot and will look into some good coilovers for her or lowering springs and shocks. Going to fit my head unit, amp and sub in when i get her back from the garage, then she is off to the body shop to get some bits smoothed over and the damage repaired. After that she is getting detailed ready for the summer and some shows hopefully.

New wheels going on in the beginning of june  :smug:
Title: Re: dubsport - '89 8v GTI
Post by: dubsport on 09 June 2009, 21:16
as promised few pics of the new wheels, they are just propped against the car as i dont want to put them on until the car is taxed. When i got her back obviously hadnt been washed for 6months so had loads of like green moss/alge growning on it, blasted it with the pressure washer and it all came off so im well happy with that, gave her a wash today, looks mint when the paint work is wet and then it drys and looks terrible again   Definitely needs lowering (again, they had to come off for the mot as they didnt sit on the shocks properly) think i need a 'mind the gap' sign  until i can get some lowering springs :D

let me know what you think  :D
