Title: sports cat advice
Post by: GTi-Matt on 31 January 2008, 08:44
ive been quoted the best part of £360 for a standard cat with the sensors and it got me to thinking that surely i can get a sports cat 4 the same sort of price? i am getting a miltek soon so might aswel get the sports cat at the same time.

so any advice of the best one and best place to get them from?

Maybe try Awesome & see if they've got any deals on, ATM??

I think you've got the most options open to you with Miltek, although I've heard that some combinations may leave a slight 'boomy-ness' at motorway cruising speed.

Centre section - Resonated (silenced) or non-res. (unsilenced).

Tailpipes - Discreet style (modelled on standard system - no need for another rear valance).

- V6 4 Motion style (need 4M valance)
- Anniversary style (need Anni valance (expensive))
- R32 style (need R32 bumper/valance (very expensive!!))

Does anyone know if the resonated system would give a good sound, but no boomyness at 70mph?

Would I get tired of a non-res system if I do a lot of motorway miles?

thanks 4 the advice ivor, i was going to change the rear valance anyway i looked at the complete system from miltek 4 £513 (non res) i think. so not to bad.

how do u find the blueflame exhaust ivor?

i did think about a de cat pipe wasnt sure tho if that did any good to the engine? has anyone else tried a de cat before? would that bring anymore power?

Miltek sports cat  about £350. you can decat it but its illegal and wont pass the mot so you will have to change it every year but- better than a sports cat for air flow.

This ones for the 1.8T i cant find at he 2.0 listed  :undecided:

Have had absolutely no problems with the B/F (touch-wood) in just shy of 2 yrs motoring. :afro:

Cost me £225 + £25 fitting (phoned them up, but got the eBay price!)

I think they're £250 + fitting now, tho?? :undecided:

Only thing I should've done, was have the sports cat fitted at the same time!!

ps  Be careful with decats, as some of them seem to throw up 'emission lights' on the dash - Not all of them, though, but I can't remember which ones do & which ones don't, LOL!!
