Title: trip Computer, stuck,
Post by: ju suis le fromage on 30 January 2008, 09:08
Please Help.

I bought a 150bhp TDI/GTI about 6 months ago, everything has been runing like a dream.

Just one problem, recently I left the trip comupter on the overal journey setting (2) for about a month. I recently tried to but the computer back on the per journey setting (1) and the stuborn thing will not have it. its like the per journey setting has dissapeared.

i have tried to hold the reset button for a stupid amount of time, but had no sucsess. reading through other threads the only thing I can think of next is to extract the fuse.

Has anyone come across this problem before?

never heard of anything like that before.

i take it pressing the reset button doesn't change it from "2" to "1" then?

would suggest the button is broke, other than taking the fuse out you could disconnect the battery which should reset the computer too.

if the button is broke then, you should be able to pick up a stalk from a scrap yard pretty cheap.

Thanks for the suggestion,

Only thing is.......using the stick I can migrate through all the trip options, such as average MPG, average speed, time and distance, and even re-sett. just cant get it to the per journey setting.

Booked in for a 40k service next week, will get them to have a look at it. Just gonna start getting expensive if i get vee dubya to have a look at it.
