Title: car cutting out while driving

Hi all

yesterday had a bit of trouble with the mk1, driving at about 50mph and suddenly the car does a massive back fire and the revs dropped.

When the car came to a halt i started it drove about 200 yards then the revs dropped and had to restart it again, (this happened all the way home)

Has my car basically blown up or is it something else?

check your filler neck for rusty, perhaps your fuel lines are all clogged up?
