 :grin: :grin: :grin: just wanna say thanx to people who advised me bout crap heaters. fixed it today and at last its warm enough to cruise around naked(not that i would) cheers all :grin:

I helped my mate do his Matrix last year. What a B@ll ache! Never again.
Did you do it on your own? It really was a 4 handed job at times on the one we did. :smiley:

Replaced the matrix on my winter hack at the weekend, this is the second one I've done and I still maintain it's not a difficult job just a bit fiddly and time consuming.
Was cooking all the way to work today but there was no way I was turning the heat down!!!
Well worth the effort.

emmm what are the symptoms of a f**ked matrix, i had my golf running for the first time sinse october and my windscreen steamed up instantly as soon as the car was started does this mean the matrix is nackered????

If it hadn't been started since october there's probably a fair bit of damp etc in all the vents. Leave it running and get everything nice and hot for a while if the misting clears then it's probably fine. If it persists then that can be the first sign of a leaking matrix.

i cant get hot air either could it be the same or could it be the heater blower because when i turn them on realy light smoke comes through the vents be a big help to find out thanx

oh yeh i had smoke/ steam coming out my vents aswell but only a little bit it did eventually go away  :grin:

sadly tho after fixin one prob along comes another.since now my mpg reading isnt workin on the mfa apparently i got 7.9 mpg dring home from work today when norally i got 29 mpg

so is it due to the heater matrix or the heater blower as i cant get any of the stages as such 1.2. or 3 cheers so is it worth just changing the heater blower
