just ordered a new ED30 what tyres does it come with.just driven a friends gti with dunlops which are loud on the road

Good question .....I was also interested to know what tyre makes VW use as OEM on the ED30
Start with mine !
My Oct. 2007 ED 30 came with Michelin Exaltos
They are quieter than previous Conti Sports and feel similar in grip to the Contis. I rate them quite highly, may not be up to the Goodyear F1's grip, but they are a good overal tyre for normal road use.

I know that they come with Conti Sport 2's and Dunlop Sport Maxx also. Anyone had other makes fitted?

I presume Exaltos, like mine :nerd:

MK5 Golfs come with either:
Continental Sport Contact 2's (soon to be 3's)
Michelin Pilot Exalto's
Dunlop Sport Maxx's
The Michelins are probably the pick of this 'reasonable' crop although the Sport Maxx are underated, give good driver feedback and wear very well.
I have the Conti's and they are well worn after 4500 miles and offer neither great grip or feedback. They do offer very progressive breakaway characteristics though.
