I'm almost certain it's me with the problem rather than the car but when I let people into the back of my car I tilt my front seat forward then slide it so they can get in. However, when I tilt and slide back it doesn't go back to the position it was originally in meaning I either have to let them into the passenger side all the time or have to keep adjusting my seat.
It's very rare that I have people in the back so it's not a major problem but just something I came across last week when I took my folks out. It happened again today when I needed to put the armrest bit down to transport something long that wouldn't fit in the boot.
I've been PM'ing someone about the arrival of both of our new Ed30's and he said his always goes back to the position it was in....so what am I doing wrong?

I have just got my 3dr ED30 and have had no problems whatsoever. Its hard to explain but have you tried pulling the seat lever back to its highest position as though you were letting somebody in the back and pulling the seat back at the same time. Mine has done what you mentioned a few times but when I pulled the seat back holding the seat lever up there was no problems. Maybe a little confusing but I hope it helps :smiley:

Pull the handle up and the seat moves forward, the chair (bottom section) slides forward. If you then move the upright (back section) to its original position without moving the base section (the bit where the bottom goes) then the base section will not go back to its original setting. The correct way is to do this.....Lift the handle up, move the back section forward and slide the bottom section forward. Let the passenge in. Slide the base of the seat back to it's original position (the seat of the chair) then lift the handle and move the back section of the seat to its original place. I hope this makes sence as I have had a few beers!

I've tried that but I'm petrified of pulling too hard whilst I have the handle in my hand and snapping it off! :shocked:
Will have another play tomorrow now that I know it can be done and it's not the car at fault!

You got it! Base back first then back upright second. Hope this works. What car have you?

VW can never get the seat operation in a 3 door car right - In my Mk4 people never wanted to push the seat down hard enough to put in back to its original position (I always had to do it for them)
As for the problem in the Mk5 - its fine if you know how to operate it - base first and then pull handle to put back section into place, it should be designed to be one fluid motion, I've yet to get a passenger who is able to adjust the seat after getting in the back or letting someone in the back by themselves! its the small things that annoy in an otherwise great car!

GolfGirl I had the same issue with my R32 but having also worked out as in the description above if you follow that method you should have no issues :smiley:

I push the base back after I let the passenger I/O, then I Lift the handle to the max and with the other hand lift the backrest. I never had problems.

Me either! i just push the switch on the drivers side which opens all 5 doors :grin: :grin:
