Title: Exhaust sag
Post by: modulater on 27 March 2004, 11:25
Just wondered if anyone else suffers from the exhaust hanging down low at the back. I've fitted new rubbers to the whole system and loosened it all off and tightened and realigned it back up.

The back box always seems to sag on the rubber mounts and hangs low. I think I may have to try the mounts with chains in them.

Get some Proflex mounts they should help!  I've got them on mine.  There alot firmer than rubber.

If you give me your e-mail I can send you some pictures of the different types of mounts, which Proflex sent me.

From experience of a h-e-a-v-y G60 corrado exhaust, it seems like the VW rubbers tend to stretch a lot... id say proflex aswell...but i imaginge they are a bit hard to get on ??

mine did sag, bought bought an extra thick rubber (I think it was for a sherpa van or something like that, just the thickest one in the shop) and cut it in half with a hack saw. exhaust is solid now and only cost me ?2.

Being the penny scarping bodger that I am I "re-enforced" all my exsiting rubbers with heavy duty cable ties. So far so good and my case of saggy back box syndrome has long gone  ;D
