Post by: big mart on 21 January 2008, 23:52
hi guys, had my gti 1.8t for a few months now and have just got some a8 19's. they ride pretty well at the mo but i wanna lower it and firm up the suspension, but use it every day so i dont wanna have my teeth rattled. wot do coilovers ride like on 19's? seen a couple of sets on ebay for 200-300 quid thanks martin

If you are worried about ride quality consider some coilovers with adjustable damping as well. Something like FK Konigsports or Weitecs.
Check out Venom Motorsport website.

I started to fit my J-tec/Evo coilovers last night, what a pig of a job, only did the fronts and am going to do the backs today but word of warning you'l need spacers even if you didnt have them before as on the drive home they started to rub on the inner part of the wheel!

I know somebody how has dropped them on coilies who has 19's and even with a 50mm drop they look the nuts!

Well tbh they look sweet but only got the fronts on, didnt have time to do the back doing them in two hours

From what I have heard from other people as long as you have a strut brace and keep them greased up they are sweet, il report back on ride quality tomorrow

to be honest for wot i need i think im just gonna go with an uprated damper and spring set up, im only looking to lower the car by 30mm anyway, not got time for all the farting about that coilovers seem to bring
