Lookin at that its deffinately a development of the mk5

Thats like saying you don't like your own car - stick a bra on your car and - voila! = 2009 Golf!
TBH - Pretty boring really
-
a car like any other...
-
as suspected........a Mk V 1/2 if you like. Not a full Mk VI - Its basically a heavily facelifted version of current car, not a completly new car like the Mk V was over the Mk IIII. Remember VW are only doing this to save costs, so its going to be minimum 75% same parts as current car.
Looks like the glass house (basically the top of car, windscreen and windows etc) has been carried over and also the back end does not look to dis similar to what we got now.
I think most mk V drivers will see alot of their car in the Mk VI, but I think its still abit of a way off and the GTI may not be until late 2009/2010

Ollieb7 - Just who is that hot girlie in your sig!? She's totally distracting!

Unlike Ollieb7's hot girlie, the Mk6 vid is totally uninspiring. Mind you I was just watching that vid of the MTM supercharged RS4!!! What a sound!

Having just had our new Edition 30 for a week, I'm not in any way concerned by these pictures. We've reached the stage now where new doesn't necessarily mean better or prettier. Look at the fiat punto for example - they took a great old design, made it look worse at the front, then eventially ditched it for the new version which looks different, bigger, but arguably blander. There were a number of artists' impressions of how they might transform the golf, but it looks like the next golf, as everyone is saying, is primarily an exercise in cost reduction, cosmetic changes being limited to those which can be achieved with minimal cost impact during development, the main thrust being to reduce the cost of components under the skin.
In short, if I were considering a gti now, I'd still go for it rather than waiting the 1,2 or 3 years for a 'better' (but will it be?) alternative. If that better alternative arrives, well, I'll get one anyway in good time.

....I couldn't agree more, Andy

It's not who that matters - it's what she's doing!
The mind boggles

1.4TFSI is due out this year on the MKV. It will supersede the 1.6FSI engine and have more power and torque. Although if you specify the DSG it will be a seven speed dry plate clutch version and so tuning will be a bit iffy to say the least!
