Title: Hi everyone :D new mk2 owner

Hi everyone seen few ppl talk bout this site on few other forums, so fort ill pop over to see whats going on :D

ive got a totally standard 1989 MK2 8v, paid £50 for it, as it had a driveline problem, but wiped the box out and popped in a new clutch and engagement arm, and hay presto she moves :D
whilst i had the bonnet open i popped on a cambelt and did full service, and now drives just like new  :smiley:   

only other thing wrong is the colour, its red(ish) so its faded to pink, so last weekend i started taking all the trim and bumpers off, and windows out, doors off, bonnet off, tailgate off and started to sand it back to prime up, found next to no rust on the whole body !!

got a price for the respray, im doing all the prep work and im priming it. im suppling the paint and my m8 is sprayin it in his booth for £100 for the labor  !!  :grin:

yeah mike, it was an unmissable, once in a life, chance to get a close to mint MK2 GTi, the guy that had it is in the army, and was bein reposted so didnt want to spend any more on it ! :D

i just see it on E38 one day wen i was sellin my mk3 polo, mk2 Golf GTi £50, and it just happened to be in my town too  :grin:

yeah where the best place to put a project progress post ??

ive got pics of wot ive done so far !! project on hold for next couple of weeks coz changing job and the fact that all the parts r at the workshop im leaving in few weeks, so tryin to shift it all from there asap !! just tryin to find places to spred the parts out, some at my mums, some in the garage around the car, som at my brothers, sum bits still at workshop, some bits in my polo, its all over the place atm  :sad:

If you want a proper project page where no one else can comment or post then you have to email jv (the BOSS) to get a section set up.

If you just want to post pics and say what ya done and get feedback/comment then start your own thread in Dub Rides.
