if a cars starter motor has gone is that a big job to fix?
will it sart if you jump it?
thanks

My dad removed mine an cleaned it in about half an hour so shouldnt be hard to change!
A car with a broken starter motor will start if you push start it but not by jumping it as thats for a flat/dead battery i think :undecided:
-
If ur gonna change it, make sure you put a jack under the engine first, as the engine will drop slightly when you remove the motor, and it's a nightmare to realign the bolt holes. I learnt the hard way.......

Note that he doesn't say its a Mk2.... Im suspicious.

Before you even think of taking out the starter, try the various checks to make sure it is a starter-out job.
What are you noticing in the circuit and what have you checked ?
-
Bump start = push till moving steady and engage 2nd gear to turn engine over.
Jump start = connect additional battery via leads and use power from that to turn starter motor!
Have you checked the earths, all of them in the bay need a good contact to turn the stater full speed.
