Title: Got No Bass!!

Just fitted some replacement rear speakers (boston acoustics) to my car and cant get any bas out of them. Anyone any ideas? I've just replaced like for like really, can't work it out. :undecided:

Are they components, coaxial's, whats the frequency range and what's the power of the source running them ?

I suspect that you've replaced the standard speakers (very sensitive) with less sensitive speakers, and you're running them from a headunit.

If it's a mk2, and you have 6x4s, you won't get staggering bass from them regardless.  You can try to increase the bass boost (which I'm sure you have tried), but this will just end up sounding muddy, and lead to clipping (distortion) from too little power.

or try swapping the +ve and -ve connections on one of the speakers, they could be running out of phase resulting in the bass frequencies cancelling themselves out! speaking from experience  :smiley:

Sorted! Swapped over conections on one speaker and normal sound has been resumed. Cheers Guys :smiley:

^^^ Yes it will, if they arent wired up the same it creates the effect of one speaker pushing and the other pulling instead of them both moving the same way at the same time.

Basically, one speaker is increasing cabin pressure, whilst at the same time the other is reducing it - hence they cancel eachother out.  Due to wavelength, it mainly affects the bass frequencies.
